To the left of our garden there is a large beech tree, featured in several “Chapel View” paintings. The trunk has a cleft in it, which has been colonised by squirrels. Having watched them lining their nest in early Spring I decided to try to show a grey squirrel with a leaf in its mouth circling round before entering.
